Symphony no8 mixed media on wood 24 x 24 x 3.5 inches The Symphony Series by Rosemary Pierce-Lackey The Symphony Series of original artworks utilizes the repurposing of discarded old books. Each geometric design is unique and is made spontaneously without a predesigned layout. This allows me to let the art itself reveal its final identity. The lengthy process of involves repurposing old book pages (circa 1951 in this case), painting multiple layers of paint over each torn page, cutting in various sizes and shapes, gluing each piece to painted wood, finished by multiple layers of thick high gloss lacquer. A tedious and timing consuming experience, it a revelation in the ability for life to play in perfect symphony when we release our preconceived ideas.

"Modern Lines in 3" is a Beautifully Detailed Wall Sculpture created from 15 individual hand-made mixed media boxes. Each of the 15 squares in the Modern Lines Series is a one of a kind (OOAK) and unique work of art. No two are alike! The Modern Lines Series is made from a variety of handcut recycled scraps of paper applied to individual boxes. The boxes have been affixed to 3 wooden panels painted black. 'Striped Trees Revealed through Red' is a large vibrant modern abstract textural painting on wood. The 'Revealed' Series is a lengthy process of combinations and layers. Multiple layers of stripes in black and silver were handpainted on the large white painted wooden panel. Movement of lines across the piece give interest and depth. Then a free-hand pattern was created and covering and creating my trees. I use my own unique technique of glazing the the pieces together in high gloss chinese red lacquer, allowing the background lines to gently show through the red, adding great depth and interest. The pattern of flowing trees is 'revealed.' The whole piece is covered in a high gloss lacquer for tremendous shine. The final step adds depth and texture to the piece when I outline the trees in a clear raised textural paint. A subtle but rich affect. It makes for a wonderfully dramatic, rich, and glossy one of a kind work of art! The piece measures 24in x 48in and is ready to hang. Feel free to email me with any questions. 'Striped Trees Revealed on Lime Green' is a large vibrant modern abstract textural painting on wood. The 'Revealed' Series is a lengthy process of combinations and layers. Multiple layers of stripes in black and silver were handpainted on the large white painted wooden panel. Movement of lines across the piece give interest and depth. Then a free-hand pattern was created and covering and creating my trees. I use my own unique technique of glazing the piece in lime green, allowing the background lines to gently show through the green, adding great depth and interest. The pattern of flowing trees is 'revealed.' The whole piece is covered in a high gloss lacquer for tremendous shine. The final step adds depth and texture to the piece when I outline the trees in a clear raised textural paint. A subtle but rich affect. It makes for a wonderfully dramatic, rich, and glossy one of a kind work of art! The piece measures 9in x 34in and is ready to hang. Feel free to email me with any questions. Trees Revealed is a series of artworks that involve layers of color beneath high gloss black to reveal a beautiful pattern of trees. The Trees intersect and carry from panel to panel with fluid motion. I took 4 individual wood panels and painted each one with a blend of colors and layers. Each panel has a unique color predominant - Blue, Yellow, Green, Red. After layers of paint I sprayed each panel with a repellant then lacquer, creating an 'acid' effect. It really gives the color a lot of depth and impact. Then I carefully protect the areas of my trees and then glaze the entire piece with black. Then I use my special technique for glazing the entire work in high gloss clear lacquer - for a marvelous shine! The result is an incredible revelation - the rich and complex color of the trees revealed through black. There are 4 panels, each measuring 24inx6in. The panels come ready to hang. They can be hung together or separated with space. Rich, complex, and intriguing. 'Trees Revealed' is a unique one of a kind created with my own conception and technique. This work seems SO much better to me in person than in photographs.
